“COUNCIL OF DADS” inspires
Benedict Haven’s CIRCLE OF FRIENDS

I recently watched a documentary on CNN, “Council of Dads”- you may have seen or read about this. It is the story of a father who was diagnosed with sarcoma; cancer of hip bone. As you travel with this father through his journey of chemotherapy, surgeries and dealing with his cancer, the one thing he worried most about was who would be there as a father figure for his daughters if he were not there. Although the surgeries were successful the threat of cancer coming back with this type of bone cancer is high. He decided to rally 5 special friends who he could count on. They each took on this responsibility with deep love and commitment. He called them his “Council of Dads.” This father explains that a heavy burden has been lifted as he faces the future. He has a sense of peace. H knows his “Council of Dads” will be there to care for his daughters.
This led me to think about Benedict Haven. Who will be there for our residents in years to come? For this father there was his Council of Dads, for the fellows of Benedict Haven it is our “Circle of Friends”. You have been there for our residents for the past 12 years. I know that you will continue to be there for them. You bring your love and commitment year after year in good times and bad times because you believe in Benedict Haven.
